| Dakar XC’s mp2 suspension system is active with a near-
vertical wheel axle travel path, plus excellent latera & torsional stiffness for rear wheel tracking precision. |

| The best shifting bikes are the one’s spec’ed with fully
integrated drivetrains. Which is what you will find on
both Dakar XC models: from the Shimano shifter to
the derailleurs front and rear to the crankset. |

| These tires roll fast over rock and hardpack, but
don’t clog easily in mud. in fact, they hold their own
in really wet conditions, which for a fast rolling tire is
a nice surprise. You never have to worry about how to
approach the next corner because the blocks in the
tread pattern (what Geax calls their “Rail Design”)
just seems perfectly postioned no matter what angle
you’re at. And the casing is super supple. |

Disc hubs twist during braking. This twisting increases
“pull” load on the nipples in the spoke bed, possibly
leading to a shear. To counter this, we spec Mavic rims
with stainless steel eyelet inserts on the XC Comp
which strengthens the rim by spreading the brake
load. On the XC Sport, the Alex TD25 rim is actually
reinforced with additional material in the spoke bed. |
